Colonel Amy M. Nutter

Col Amy M. Nutter is the Commander for the 101st Maintenance Group, 101st Air Refueling Wing, Maine Air National Guard, Bangor, Maine. She provides leadership for the Group that is charged with providing mission ready KC-135R aircraft to the Wing, enabling the Wing to meet worldwide air refueling requirements; projecting combat power and global reach. The 101st Maintenance Group also acts as an enroute support location for contingency aircraft from the Air Mobility Command, Department of Defense and US Allies. Col Nutter directs the training and performance of over 260 aircraft maintenance and support personnel within the group. 

Col Nutter was born in Bangor, Maine and raised in Hampden, Maine, graduating from Hampden Academy in 1994. In 1995 she attended the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and enrolled in the Reserve Officer Training Course. She graduated and received her commission into the United States Air Force from UNH in May 1999. Her initial duty assignment was to the 509th Maintenance Squadron, Whiteman Air Force Base (AFB), Knob Noster, Missouri. In September 1999, she attended the Aircraft Maintenance/Munitions Officer Course at Shepphard AFB, Wichita Falls, Texas, graduating in December 1999. She was initially assigned to the 509th Logistics Group within the Maintenance Squadron. A year later she was assigned to the 325th Bomb Squadron, Whiteman AFB, Missouri. After three years at Whiteman, she transferred to the C-5 System Program Office (SPO), Air Logistics Center, Warner Robbins AFB, Warner Robbins, Georgia  Initially she was assigned on the floor of the C-5 Depot Program but was then asked to filled the role as the C-5 SPO Executive Officer. 

In May 2004, Col Nutter left Georgia, separating from active duty and joined the Maine Air National Guard, Bangor International Airport, Bangor, Maine. She was assigned as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer, 101st Maintenance Squadron, as a Drill Status Guardsman (DSG). Three years later she was moved to the 101st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron as a DSG Aircraft Maintenance Officer. In March 2010, she was offered a full-time position in the 101st Logistics Readiness Squadron (LRS) and spent four years in LRS as the Deployment and Distribution Flight Commander.    

Col Nutter was deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, in the summer of 2014, working in the Central Command Deployment and Distribution Center where she was responsible for Foreign Military Sales. Upon return from deployment, she assumed the duties as Commander, 101st Maintenance Squadron, in October 2014. Col Nutter served in that position for six years and in June 2020 she was reassigned as Commander, 101st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron. Just over a year later, in October 2021, she became the Deputy Maintenance Group Commander. Col Nutter entered into the Inspector General position in April 2022 and served there for just over a year.  In August 2023, Col Nutter was assigned into her current position as the Maintenance Group Commander. She is married to her husband Gordon; they have three sons—Jacob, Andrew, and Kaleb—and resides in Holden, Maine.
